Home Visiting Volunteer

Home visiting volunteers offer emotional and practical support to families with small babies. Examples of tasks include: caring for older siblings, light chores, accompanying parents on errands, and everyone’s favorite—snuggling sweet babies. Often a volunteer is simply a reassuring and encouraging presence for an overwhelmed parent, offering an extra pair of hands and the affirmation that they are doing well.

 

Due to the sensitive nature of the work our volunteers do with families, we require the following for home visiting volunteers:​

​

• Complete one of our volunteer trainings (held four times a year)

• Allow permission to participate in a national background check

• Commit to supporting a family for 12, 2-hour visits

• Attend monthly volunteer meetings to stay updated on Sistering CU business and continued training

 

In addition to providing volunteer training, Sistering CU offers ongoing supervision, training, and support for volunteers.

 

Support Group Volunteer

Our support group for new parents is always looking for extra help. Options include:

• childcare assistance

• pick up and drop off our weekly Starbucks order

• train to be a co-facilitator for the group

 

Co-Director/Administrative Volunteer

Board members serve a special purpose at Sistering CU—they staff the whole organization!

 

If you'd like to serve at Sistering CU in an administrative capacity, please consider joining our Board of Directors in a Co-Director position. Each position requires:

• Attendance at a monthly board meeting (held on the second Wednesday of every month from 7-8:30pm)

• About 2 hours per week of volunteered time

• Commitment to a one year appointment
